What a fantastic read!!! I have never read any of Mr. Baldwin's previous works, but this one certainly could keep a narcoleptic awake at his desk, at a training session or on the can. This sounds crazy, but the mention of Mr. Baldwin's having been a Middle-East correspondent filled me with the urge to eat Lebanese food. I've had visions of pita bread and hummus for days. Mr. Baldwin really captured the essence of being out in the Atlantic during a fierce storm--so much so that I felt myself becoming ill. Mr. Baldwin has a real knack for the gritty, while maintaining his ability to gaze at the stars. It would be like describing a grimy toothbrush that has been left in a desk drawer for months, while being able to convey that the toothbrush is ivory-handled. Fabulous work!! I look forward to more from Thomas BT Baldwin, Jr.!!! While I, too, lament the absence of female characters in the book, if that is going to deter anyone from "the read" of his summer, all I can say is, "Bring a pillow."

I have enjoyed Mr. Baldwin's work for many years. He finds rich stories in small, well-lit places. My son was inspired by the adventure of the sea. I enjoyed the exploration of men's emotions about fear. As a woman, I took note that there were no females in this story. Thank goodness. And,yes, as a favor, I am writing from his computer. Wouldn't you do that for a friend? Elana deChampignon, Paris

I found the writing in this book a joy ... Mr Baldwin paints us a colorful and detailed picture, he takes us on the journey with him... I think anyone who has an interest in the ocean and seafaring would appreciate this story. I have decided to give it as a gift to my family whom are all mariners; real and imagined.. C.R.
