Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Samurai Deeper Kyo- action, comedy, and a bit of romance
I am one of those type of people that are very picky about the type of manga that they read. I love action, but I need some comedy and romance is nice when it adds to the plot.....and Samurai Deeper Kyo satisfies all of these. I am also fond of historical Japan manga and it was intersting to read one during this time in Japan, since, at least as far as I have read, very few are set during that time period.

The charater design is crisp and clear and the fight scenes are also well drawn and clear (with other mangas I would sometimes would have to analyze the picture during a fight scene just to get a grip on what is going on) The plot has many twists and turns to keep you very entertained.

Over all I think it is an excellent manga and the only fault I have with it is that they aren't published fast enough.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - An awsome manga ^.^
I love this book, subsequent time I come near a manga section in a store I'll pick number 2 up. Kyoshiro is a normal medicine peddler until he gets mad.....then kyo of the demon eyes comes out! Yuya is a bounty huntress.....with additude(her character kind of reminds me of Faye Valentine). When they meet, all hell breaks loose. We see a new side of Kyoshiro, a perverted side that is......

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - goodness
This manga was pretty good, if you stick around to try the later volumes in the series it gets better.
It does start out a lot like Rurouni Kenshin, but it turns out they are very different. Do not be alarmed.
Samurai Deeper has interesting characters, wonderful art, hot guys and a female character (Yuya-san) who actually isn't that annoying! ^^ yay
If you like swords, blood and... some glimpses of the female body, then give it a shot. (If you are into that stuff and can handle the Maturity) Again, stick around for the later volumes too, it does get better. ~read up~

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Kenshin and Kyo: a Superficial Comparison
YES: Samurai Deeper Kyo is a historical Japanese manga set around the time of the samurai, and the main characters is an amazing sword fighter.

...But wait? Isn't that Rurouni Kenshin? D00d, it's a total rip off!

(Here ends the sarcasm)

Yes. Rurouni Kenshin also has historical Japan and samurai. But that's really where I draw the line between the two manga. I haven't read past the third volume of this series, but I see very little comparisons in the two other than what I've already said.

I read Samurai Deeper Kyo for the supernatural aspect and for the plot, where I see Rurouni Kenshin as being a much more philosophical story. Does this mean that Samurai Deeper Kyo is stupid? No. Is it silly? Sometimes, yes. Is it entertaining? Most definitely.

Many manga artists cannot capture fight scenes well on paper, but Samurai Deeper Kyo did a good job with the fight scenes. If you want to read this, go ahead, but don't start reading it as a Rurouni Kenshin knock-off, because it is not. It's well drawn, entertaining, appeals to girls who don't want the magic girl epic manga, and if it matters to you, it's got a load of fanservice. Try it, you may find that you'll really enjoy it.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Ugh--could this rip off any more from Rurouni Kenshin?
First off, I have read Samurai Deeper Kyo and Rurouni Kenshin. So for those of you that want to flame me, I do know what I am talking about.

I was not very impressed with this book. The characters are sterotypes, the plot has been done before (Kenshin) and the dialogue was, while good, not enough to separate it from the pack.

Overall, I prefer Rurouni Kenshin to this.
