Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
In Austen's gentle parody of gothic fiction, Felicity Jones (Meadowlands) plays romance addict Catherine Morland. Invited to a medieval country house that appeals to her most lurid fantasies, she forms a close friendship with the younger son on the estate, Henry Tilney (JJ Feild, The Secret Life of Mrs. Beeton), but their budding romance is mysteriously cut short. Adapted by Andrew Davies.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Very well done!
Okay, I'm a big Jane Austen fan. I watched this movie before I read the book, because I expected the movie would disappoint me, and I knew I would be constantly comparing if I watched it after reading Ms. Austen's masterpiece. However, reading the book afterwards, I was pleasantly surprised by how close to the book the movie really is. The only differences are, of course, the imagined dream sequences and proposal scene, and slight variations towards beginning and towards the end. I thought the dream sequences were very clever and worked with Catherine's character. As to the other liberties taken, they were minor and/or accurate with what I think Ms. Austen would envision. Of course, the book is the ultimate way to experience the story, but I loved this adaption as well. For one thing, it's wonderfully cast. I can't think of a single person that doesn't fit the character they play. JJ Field and Felicity Jones are absolutely perfect! I strongly recommend at least renting or borrowing this adaption. It's one of my favorites!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Northanger Abbey Review
I think this movie was very good!
The acting was great and Catherine acted extremely well.
I haven't read Austen's novel in a very long while, so I cannot say how exact the movie is to the novel. However, there are some comical parts and the ending is truly a happy one.
Overall, I was pleased to see another of Austen's novels come to life.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Masterpiece Theatre: Northanger Abbey
I really enjoyned Masterpeiece Theatre's Northanger Abbey. I loved the way they captured Catherine's dramtic imagination, and they really caught the horribleness of John Thorpe and his sister Isabella. The actor who played John Thorpe was not good looking either. So there is no way you could possible like this person. He played his part well. At very first I wasn't sure if I liked the actor who played Henry Tilney, but he was such a good actor that his looks grew on you and you really ended up liking him.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this movie and felt it stayed true to Jane Austin's version of the story "Northanger Abby"

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Interesting
For someone who has not read the book, the movie was very interesting with an unexpected twist! And as always, Jane Austen delivers a happy ending!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Entertainment
I thought the story was interesting from beginning to end. The actors were convincing and showed great depth of character. I didn't want it to end and I wish there was a sequel.
It was well worth the price I paid. I was not familiar with this particular story and I was so pleased with the ending.
