Editor's Notes and Comments:
Amazon.com:
In 1976 a young Toronto musician released a fun and lively record called Singable Songs for the Very Young. The artist was a fellow called Raffi, and in the liner notes he wrote at the time that 'there are very few good children's records.' True as that was in the '70s, Singable Songs became the No. 1 bestseller in its field and set the standard for today's greater volume of high-quality material. The Singable Songs Collection reissues the classic Singable Songs for the Very Young and its superlative successors, More Singable Songs and Corner Grocery Store, as a set. Raffi's exhilarating acoustic musicality and sense of humour shine brightly through. Single-digit-age kids and their parents will get a kick out of these silly, educational, and joyful songs, which range in subject matter and tone from shared peanut-butter sandwiches and instrumental ragtime to standards like 'Goodnight, Irene.' --Paige La Grone

I hadn't really heard of Raffi until I started looking for children's music for my new daycare. I purchased this collection because it was a good deal for a lot of great classics. I LOVE this and the kids love it. There are SO MANY fun songs on this. It really is a "singable" collection. The kids listen to it over and over and don't get bored. Would definitely recommend for children and families to enjoy together.

I bought this cd 2 yrs ago not really knowing much about Raffi. I read the reviews and as a new parent I took a chance. Well, my daughter just loves Raffi. She's 2 and a half now and knows the lyrics of every song. I have to play Raffi every single time my daughter is in my car. Great for short and long car rides. Needless to say I'm sick of his songs, but it's the only way I can have a quiet or singing child in the car.

I love this CD. She loves bopping to the music. I catch myself singing the songs in the car. The songs have fun lyrics. I got it for my infant daughter, but my 8 yr old stepdaughter enjoyed them too. She knew some of the songs because she was singing them in school. My nieces love the songs too!

My wife is an early childhood teacher, so she knows all about Raffi. I know virtually nothing about childrens music, but we have a 14 month old son and he loves it - makes diaper changes and putting on pajamas much more fun. There are, of course, classics that I am familiar with, but there are plenty I am not. He does have a good voice, and the use of children singing along is not overdone as can often be the case. I particularly like the French songs ("Les Zombies et Les Loups-Garous" is great)!

We loved Raffi 20 years ago and it was an absolute delight to get his music on CD (instead of the tired old cassette tape!)
I love putting this music on as I go about my day when I am at home. So many happy, happy memories! I can almost hear my boys singing along even tho they are all (gulp!) grown-ups already!
We gave a copy to my wee step-grand-daughter who is almost two and her mum says she loves it. I just ordered "Baby Baluga" for her and a copy for myself also.
Raffi is timeless! As all good music is!
