I will give a brief overview of the Classic Battletech Tactical Operations product. Just for full disclosure- I helped playtest the material in this product. Tactical Operations is an expansion product for the Classic Battletech game line. The bulk of the book is a compilation of advanced rules and technology from Classic Battletech products like Maximum Tech, Combat Equipment, etc. There are some new rules which include areas like Advanced Support Vehicles and Advanced Buildings in addition to a few new pieces of technology. Like the Classic Battletech core rulebook- Total Warfare, Tactical Operations has fantastic diagrams to help explain the rules and a sidebar to show you what section you are in.
The rules and equipment apply to games that are fought on the tactical level which is what pick up games fall into. I suspect this product will have the most appeal to those who have a significant amount of experience playing the game and are looking for ways to keep the game fresh. Even if you have most or all the products from which this book draws heavily on, I still think it is worthwhile to purchase Tactical Operations. The book is a massive 424 page hardcover with beautiful illustrations and presents the material in a convenient way. I hope you enjoy this book !!!

The Third (or fourth if you count the RPG) Core Rulebook for Classic Battletech, Tactical Operations gives the player 400 Pages of additional rules, charts, and construction options to take your game to a higher level of play. Additional units from Satellites to massive mobile structures is included, as well as new weapon options to give your 'Mech that needed edge on the battlefield. It is highly recommended for any fan of the game, but should be a future purchase for any novice gamer.
