Product Description:
Finding Gold in Washington State: 2005-6 Edition is a book functioning as an informational guide for small scale miners in Washington State. This edition is even more packed with answers to reader questions of WHO / WHAT / WHERE / WHEN / WHY & HOW to find, recover, refine and profit from gold while prospecting. The book includes even more gold prospecting suppliers and clubs one can join as well as state rules and contact addresses and phone numbers for state resource guides and rules. The author also includes hot areas he has successfully prospected, as well as ones offered in e-mails from readers and other miners. Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Fascinating DVD For The Whole Family
After watching the King 5 Northwest Backroads special about Nighthawk and the Four Metals Mine I was interested in getting some factual data about prospecting. Sean's book provided insight and drama to a part of history above and beyond what Northwest Backroads special could provide. This is a fabulous and well documented book which should appeal to anyone who spends any time in the back-country of Western Washington or Okanogan County, gold panning. His book, which is fascinating too read; will enable you to appreciate more hands-on techniques of gold panning while answering many of your questions. Sean's fantastic book is a great gift for anyone with an interest in gold panning and locating those "hot spots".
I know of a teacher that has used this book with great sucess in their Washington history classes, and I recommend it to anyone with an interest in gold panning in Washington State. Other books tell you where the "nuggets" might be located, but this book is unique in helping you understand what you are seeing and what to do when you get there. The research that went into this book is incredible and the photography is very clear. Take this along on your subsequent trip when you hit the prospecting trails of Washington State, you won't be sorry.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - From rags to riches
Normally I dont write reviews for books but this one actuly helped me find gold.
Sean has a dvd on the subject too that I seen at the library and adds more inormation than thi s book did.
Get it while the gold is good.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Superb!
My husband and I needed something to do in Washington on our drive up from Oregon. I logged onto a travel website and noticed Mr. Taeschner's book. Since Jim enjoys looking for new things to do I bought this book for him and a cheap gold pan at Big 5 Sporting Goods.
Well, we managed to find some gold flakes and some blue rocks, which he believes are garnets. Now he is hooked. I found information on clubs to join quite helpful and we did not have any problems with park rangers stopping us as we looked for our treasures! I recommend this book to all people seeking fun and adventure!

Great book. My brother took me to the Columbia River last week. We used the book and found arrowheads in our sluicer and some good flake gold. Definintely worth purchasing.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding Book on Prospecting
I had to get on this site and do a review of Sean's book.
No maps were included in the book, because the rivers in Washington are certainly full of good gold.
There was lots of information on clubs to go to for information, equipment, places where Sean actually has found gold...and I checked out his DVD in the King County Library. I assure you...he is not salting the pan.
I located some small nuggets on the Green River near Auburn.
So....good luck and enjoy this book and the video!
Mike from Auburn, Washington
