Product Description:
The Pontiac Firebird was originally overshadowed by the popular Chevrolet Camaro, but the Firebird developed a loyal following and a reputation for true high-performance to earn a high-profile spot in muscle car history. It also had a role in pop culture as Burt Reynolds drove a Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit and young David Hasselhoff took direction from his talking Trans Am in Knight Rider. While 1970s environmental and insurance interests emasculated most muscle cars, the Trans Am made a defiant last stand. In 1973, Pontiac introduced the mighty Trans Am Super Duty 455, one of the fastest muscle cars ever. The high-performance, high-profile history of the Firebird Trans Am is presented here along with stunning colour photos of choice models.

There arent many books published on these cars so when I bought this books I found it to be better than I expected. This book is published by Motorbooks Internatinal so you know its a great book. These "Muscle car color" series books are great books and good value.
Plenty of colour photos though out of each body series and interesting text make this a good book. There are a few faults:
too many photos of the same cars therefore lacks a colured variety. Its still a good book though. Its a decent book.

As an owner of a small library of car books including Firebird ones, and an owner and 'Bird enthusiast, I can recommend this to anyone who is an enthusiast - for one, it is filled with new photos not printed in previous books on the Firebird.
However, if you are looking for an authoritive resource on the Firebird, look elsewhere. Like many prior Firebird books, it has mistakes. Just thumbing through it since I haven't yet had time to read it cover to cover, revealed several errors. For instance, contrary to what the author says, the '91 Formula was NOT available as a convertible - nor did it offer the Aero Package as an option.
The mistakes are keeping it from getting 5 stars.

This book is a MUST for any fan of the Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am
It goes into great detail of the cars history and has some real quality colour pictures.
It even delves into the Tv/Movie appearances this fantastically designed 4 wheeled wonder has made history in.
The fact alone The Performance Pontiac was discontinued in 2002 is a great shame and i know i'm not alone in stating it IS greatly missed and WAS a big mistake.
Get this softback book NOW , i don't think you'll be dissappointed...............

A nice entry in the musclecar colour history series, but too few pages to cover this range of models over so many years. For example one book in this colour history series covers Mustang over only just 1979 to 1998. There are better recent books on the Firebird, Trans Am that cover all the models.
