Product Description:

What is large (or small), bright yellow, and filled with students? School Bus!

Climb aboard and let Donald Crews take you to school -- and home again.

Amazon.com Review:
A bright orange school bus is evocative of exuberant kids, gleefully launched spitwads, kind bus drivers, and of course school itself. In Donald Crews's School Bus--written 'for the buses, the riders, and the watchers'--preschoolers caught up in the whole school-bus mystique can follow the path of a school bus on its daily travels--minus the aforementioned shenanigans. Crews sticks with the basics, including only a few words per page, such as 'Full buses head for school' and 'Here we are.' Adults reading aloud to children will be able to fill in the blanks and let kids make up their own stories within the framework of this book. Crews, creator of the Caldecott Honor book Freight Train, Parade, and the sturdy, board-book edition of Truck has proven himself to be an expert at conveying basic concepts to youngsters, and this book is no exception! (Baby to Preschool) --Karin Snelson

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Appealing to toddlers
Ok, I only gave this one 3 stars - but that's just my opinion. If you asked my 2-year-old it would definitely be a 5 star review. He can't get enough of this book and seems to love everything about it. He points out which bus is "his" bus and which is his brother's. He points out the garbage truck and taxi and cars. Apparently it's a fascinating read if you're 2. However, for me having spent a significant portion of my youth inside one of those orange school buses - I now fail to understand the allure. Or maybe, more accurately, I'm just tired of reading it every night. As mentioned in other reviews - there is no "story."

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - my 17 month old boy loves it!
whenever i take my boy to the local book store, he runs to this book and sits on my laps so we can read it together.
he sees a dozen of school buses whenever we go out for a walk. when he read this book for the very first time, he seemed fascinated to find out where these buses were going.
he's very interested in traffic lights, so he gets all excited when we get to "Stop" and "Go" pages. he points and babbles!
the book shows people lining up for the bus and the scene; i use it as a reference when we go to a toddlers' program and it helps him wait in line for his turn.
the book also has a scene parents picking up kids; my boy gives me a hug as he points at the mommy and the boy hugging in the book.
there are not many words on each page, but there's so much to talk about on each page with my little one!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Great for little boys
My two year old son is fascinated with the school busses that pass by the house every day. This book has become one of his favorites. The words are simple enough that he can "read" the pages to himself. Concepts such as stop and go, and big and little are also found in the book.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - There is no storyline
I bought this book because it was on my son's school summer reading list, and he loves cars, trucks, buses etc. However, it has no storyline. Each page has one or two words that basically say nothing!!! My son liked the pictures, but the "story" didn't hold his attention at all.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Perfect for the young child and special needs preschoolers
Need to send your 2- or 3-year old to school on a big orange bus? Get this book. It is not for the pre-kindergardeners (though it appears on lots of pre-K summer reading lists), but its simplicity and basic language concepts ("cross the town", stop/go, arriving and departing, etc) are perfect for kids just learning language or having trouble with language acquisition. Its also a great way to get your young child used to the idea of buses.
