Product Description:
When the pirate crew turns up at Jeremy Jacob's house and accidentally wakes his baby sister, that wee scallywag howls louder than a storm on the high seas. Sure, there's buried treasure to be found, but nobody's digging up anything until Bonney Anne quits her caterwauling. So, quicker than you can say 'scurvy dog,' Braid Beard and his swashbuckling pirates become . . . babysitters? Blimey!
This hilarious companion to How I Became a Pirate reveals that minding the nursery can be even more terrifying than walking the plank--especially if you're a pirate.

We bought it for "International Talk Like a Pirate Day". My 3 year old loved it!

Wonderful Book! Our family actually likes this one more than the preceeding book "How I Became A Pirate" also by the same author and illustrator.. This book will have the entire family talking like pirates...but with out swearing! =) My daughter requested this one night after night, she then could rectite it entirely by herself. She would pretend to "read" it to her younger sister. You will not be disappointed it this book! Our family of four loves it! "Ahoy there Jeremy Jacob!"

This isn't a pirate book. This is a babysitting book with a guest appearance by Captain Braid Beard and his crew of seven.
What made the very first book interesting -- Jeremy Jacob experiencing the highs and lows of life on a pirate ship -- is exactly why this book never takes off. The pirates come to Jeremy's house and there's just not much interesting to do or see there.
My sons -- ages 5 and 4 -- love to read about pirates during their bedtime. They'll ask me to reread their favorites but this book never garnered a second request.
In summary, I recommend "How I Became a Pirate" but advise you to leave this sequel on the shelf.

I totally adored Long and Shannon's original book, and by golly this is definitely a worthy sequel! Jeremy Jones seems to be up to a fairly ordinary afternoon keeping an eye on his sleeping baby sister. But then, aye, those crazy, loveable pirates return to dig up their treasure in order to buy a new ship. But those pirates are loud and soon the baby is screaming. This has all the charm of the original book and a more organized plot that puts all these fun characters into a good, tight storyline. These scurvy sea dogs may be able to tackle the high seas, but dealing with babies is quite a challenge for them! Shannon's illustrations are as wonderful as ever and I completely fell in love with Long's new story. I hope this is the beginning of a good pirate series, because it truly is a fu

My 4 year old son loved the very first book (How I became a Pirate) so I got him the sequel recently, when our baby daughter was born. He LOVED the book and the heavy pirate lingo. The pictures, as in the very first book, are beautiful. I think it's a great "big brother" gift (so much more fun than the usual "big brother" books that are out there) or birthday gift for a boy (you could also supplement with a pirate eye-patch or scarf to make the gift complete).
