Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
In Dangerous Weapons: The Queen’s Gambit, opening experts Richard Palliser, Glenn Flear and Chris Ward team up to investigate one of the most popular openings in chess history, but in a revolutionary way. They concentrate on little-explored and fun-to-play variations of the Queen’s Gambit, selecting a wealth of ‘dangerous’ options for both colours. Whether playing White or Black, a study of this book will leave you confident and fully-armed, and your opponents running for cover!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I disagree--this title is fine
I don't have a problem with this book at all. Sure, you can find fault with the "Dangerous Weapons" format, which is a kind of knock-off of New In Chess's "SOS" series. But it's a natural response to the information age: with theory as bloated as it is today, comprehensive coverage of any major opening could take several volumes. So you find a trick or two--something you might actually get a chance to play on the board--and you go from there. Of course I would welcome any new "The Complete ______ " or "Winning with the ________" or "Beating the _______" volumes, but there's no reason to reject the "Dangerous Weapons" format out of hand.

Being a Catalan fan, I mainly wanted a repertoire against the Slav, Semi-Slav, and . . .a6 Slav, and am finding the suggestions given here very interesting. What's not to like?

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Useless
It seems to me the Dangerous weapons series is a big waste. They created it just to make money. Throw in a few odd lines and call them "dangerous"-not how chess opening books should be written. The only good one in the series is the french defence. But notice how it was only written by one person-John Watson, A highly reputable writter. Other than that, don't waste money on this crap beleive me. I got this book hoping it would be good but again- just rare sidelines with hardly any explanations. Just a database dump.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Dangerous Weapons
I was disappointed with this book. I have several books by G Flear and I like them all very much. Earlier I bought Dangerous Weapons for the French Defence by Watson and I like it a lot too. Maybe my expectations were too high but the Dangerous weapons for the Queens gambit was disappointing. Too much stuff on the Slav/Merane defence and not enough on other variations. Frankly speaking to me it looks like a rush job. It seems grandmasters generate chess books on a weekly basis nowadays.
