The only thing I could find "wrong" about Paul's book is that it was published before her last and premature (my opinion) inactivation. Well, there IS one more thing "wrong", I was still employed by the Navy at the time and was not allowed to furnish Paul technical history of the ship's 1981/82 reactivation and modernization period.
Maybe, if Paul finds the time to revise the book one more time, we can get all that updated. Otherwise, the author brings you the life of a Battleship in a way no other person can do. Well, of course Paul Stillwell can. He SERVED aboard The Big J himself. And that's his style of historical record; the people who made up those ships as the designers, craftsmen and crewmen.
I cannot imagine anyone serious about Naval history not wanting this book in their library. Therefore, even if your interest is in cruisers or destroyers or submarines or carriers, you MUST have THIS book because it is about the PEOPLE that made the United States Navy the greatest Naval Force in the history of the world.
