This book presents an amazing appraisal of the most successful Formula 1 car ever. If you have interest in the turbo F1 cars of the late eighties, this volume truly presents the challenges of design in a unique form. It gives nearly every detail of the chassis and engine produced in Woking, while relating that information to the racer's contemporaries. The vehicle truly gets the review it deserves with this book.

This is a book about the car and its development. It will absorb anyone with a technical/engineering automotive interest. It doesn't just tell you about the McLaren-Honda Turbo, but follows the evoloution of the ideas and concepts used, through several different cars. Building to the point where turbosupercharging was banned in F1, the technical advances are followed like an unfolding story.
Ian Bamsey's style doesn't loose the reader in complicated explanations and yet is not superficial. The book will give you a solid qualitative knowledge backed up with some numbers if you want them, but you don't need the numbers to understand. If this man wrote software manuals people might actually read them, such is the standard of his writing. I speak as a person who has also written technical publications for popular consumption and I wish I could write like this.
If you want to know about this car then buy this book (If you can find it).
