Kevin's poems are evidence that there is still an excellent American school of poetry. This is not the overly sentimental whining of the angst-ridden. It is not the painful attempts of political activism. It is not the self-indulgent masturbatory fantasies of most college campuses.
It is real poetry with something to say. He experiments with form. He picks a moment and stays with it. And he uses language that is neither so plain as to be dull nor pathetic in its endeavor to use shock in place of art.
