In a time where immigration is a hot issue and racisim still runs rampant the play is a reminder to remember where we come from and how far we have to go. I'm a teacher in the state of Texas where racism is more of an acquaintance than a distant cousin. "Happy Ending and Day of Absence" by Douglas Turner Ward is just as enlighting and relevent yesterday as it was in the 1960s. I enjoyed the reading.
