Product Description:
In the pages of Chevrolet Pickups, you'll find a legendary tale of how Chevrolet's line of trucks evolved from cars with beds...to the sophisticated luxurious trucks of modern times. Mueller's text includes the rise of the Depression-era trucks that made Chevrolet the number one manufacturer of light pickups, and Chevy's 30-year run in that top spot. Mueller explains how the leaders and engineers at Chevrolet made the company's truck line such a dominant force... and goes in-depth on many specific models that had enormous impact on the pickup truck industry. 'The complete history of Chevrolet trucks is covered, with sidetrips that shed light on the GMC counterparts, competitive brands, and the ElCamino and Corvair pickups.' Packed with photographs of beautifully restored pickup trucks, 'Chevrolet Pickups tells the history of one of the (20th) century's greatest accomplishments.'

My husband loves this book and has been sharing it with all his friends. I was surprised at how much he liked it. I am glad it was such a big hit for him.

This book is very thorough in the history of General Motors pickups from the beginning through approx 1972.
This book is full of beautiful pictures that make the purchase price worthwhile without any of the accompanying stories.
Pickup trucks moved into the mainstream in the later part of the 1960s and came full force in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I was very disappointed with the lack of information from 1973-present. The C/K10 (73-87) trucks are quickly becoming collector items and I was looking for additional information regarding these years. The GMT400 (88-98) is hardly mentioned, and the GMT800 (99-07) isn't discussed at all, aside from a picture from a GM press release. The lack of information on the newer trucks is largely unforgivable given the publish date of 2002. I would have chopped 2 stars from the review but the excellent pictures moderated my disappointment.
There are also some laughably wild predictions about the future of trucks and SUVs (keep in mind circa 2002).
MORAL: Only buy if you want pictures and history of anything pre-1973.
