This book is very direct, there is no useless information, but you should also have an understanding of Biology and Psychology in addition to it. I received a very good score, used this book to study for the test, but I also knew many of the terms/ideas from my AP Psychology and Biology courses. The book in itself is useful, to the point, and easy to comprehend. The CD helps with timing yourself, but you need to understand the ideas not just remember the terms.

I had ordered a used college Developmental Psych textbook (600 pages) and started reading it, but when the REA test prep book arrived I set the textbook aside and focused exclusively on the included 150 pages of review material. I used the practice tests to note my weaknesses and made sure that I understood all the answer choices on the questions I missed (and even some I got right). This gave me a pretty wide base to work from. I give the REA HG & D 8th edition test prep book four stars because there were a number of questions on the actual CLEP test that were not covered by the review materials. Even so, I scored a 70 out of 80 (50 is passing) and knocked out my final three required credits in two weeks for a total of about $125 including test fees and prep materials. Very cool!!!
