Product Description:
'Whatever the reason, I find that with each passing Christmas the story of the Christmas box is told less and needed more. So I record it now for all future generations to accept or dismiss, as seems them good. As for me, I believe. And it is, after all, my story.' So begins The Christmas Box, the touching story of a widow and the young family who moves in with her. Together they discover the very first gift of Christmas and learn what Christmas is really about. The Christmas Box is a Christmas story unlike any other.

Amazon.com Review:
Richard Paul Evans originally wrote The Christmas Box as an expression of love for his two daughters, never intending for it to be published. Many Christmas seasons (and a rich publishing contract) later, this touching tale relates the meaning of Christmas in a profound but simple way. Rick, Keri, and their 4-year-old daughter, Jenna, are hired as caretakers and are welcomed into the home of Mary, an ailing widow, just in time for the holidays. Before long, it becomes apparent that Mary cherishes their companionship, and this young family begins to understand that their relationship to Mary is more special than any one of them could have realized. These tender relationships, fraught with real-life struggles, are the backdrop for unraveling a mysterious secret that gently propels the reader through this short story. Unlike most generic Christmas stories, Evans manages to bypass triviality, imbedding these pages with humble truth and emotion. This tiny treasure will cause you to rejoice in the blessings of the season while stirring up a childlike vigour as old profundity is revealed anew. In a season often shrouded in selfishness and materialism, Evans reminds the reader that the only way that we can genuinely love one another is by accepting the greatest gift of love ever given--that of a Father who 'so loved His children that He sent His son, that we might someday return to Him.' --Jill Heatherly

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - A Short Christmas Story
This book is more of a long short story than a novel. It could have been shorter. The story involves a young couple with a daugther who move into a mansion owned by Mary, an old lady. The family share the house for a few weeks with Mary and become very attached to her. The upstairs attic has some curious things ( a Christmas box and a cradle). What's Mary's story? The secret is not a big surprise. There are magical, supernatural elements to the story. The story is easy to read and entertaining. This is not "the" greatest Christmas story in the world ,but it is enjoyible and short. I felt good at the end of the tale.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Grab some tissues !! Dont pass this book up !!
When Richard Paul Evans writes a book, there is always someone you can relate to. He has a gift for writing that places you emotionally in the book itself. The story is a touching story that makes you want to become a better parent, friend, spouse, person and human. I have, for 6 years, been giving this book to friends at Christmas. Everyone always loves the story. It is a quick and easy read also. Dont pass up this book !

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Terribly over-rated
This would have been a decent magazine article, but it's not substantial enough to be a book. It is also a bit simplistic, though the message is well-meaning and comes from the heart.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Everyone should HAVE to read this for Chirstmas.
This has to be the most touching, heartwarming books I have ever read about Christmas. I think that everyone should HAVE to read this book. It really makes you think about what Christmas and family is all about. It strikes a few cords in all of us. I love the fact that the Bible has a place in this book also.

It is a very, very fast read so even those who don't read much can make it through quickly. (I read it within 2 hours before church one Sunday morning.)

By the way, once you read this one you will WANT to read the subsequent to that follow; The Timepiece and The Letter. They are wonderful as well.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A BEAUTIFUL STORY FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON
A BEAUTIFUL STORY WHICH REFLECTS LOVE AND UNSELFISHNESS. A GREAT BOOK TO READ DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON AND TO GIVE AS A GIFT. RICHARD PAUL EVANS IS ALWAYS TOPS AT WRITING. A BOOK YOU CAN READ TO YOUR CHILDREN.
