Product Description:
What will happen when the sheep go trick-or-treating? Could there be wolves lurking in the woods, hoping to waylay them as they return home with their bags full of goodies? In crisp verse and whimsically eerie pictures, Nancy Shaw and Margot Apple tell the lively story of a remarkable Halloween adventure. Simple sentences, rhyming text, and a humorous tone make this the perfect treat for beginning readers. Fans of this adventuresome flock of sheep will not want to miss this Halloween treat.

Our 3 year old twin girls love the Sheep in a Jeep books. I bought this one as they are just beginning to understand dressing up and trick-or-treating for Halloween. Its cute, funny and not at all scary to them. Great beginning reader book like the others and fun pictures like the others. Definitely recommend.

Sheep always get such a bum rap for being such docile, silly followers. Not this time. In "Sheep Trick or Treat" our sheep are bold and in charge! Put on a cape, add two vampire teeth, stand just so, scrunch the eyes--yes, sheep, that's the way to go!
On Halloween night six sheep and their goose friend prepare their disguises for some trick or treat fun. Their intense faces are baa-baa-licious as they size and stitch and glue. They are even funny concentrating to make humps in one sheep's wool for dinosaur fins. How could a child be afraid of these sheep?
There are two pages that might be a tad daunting and provide shivers--the same shown on the cover. The shadows are really spooky! Even the grey cat at the nearby barn hisses his fear. The horses, the cows, the chickens, even the spider give up their goodies for the sheep, then they head home to feast on their treats.
Wait, more animals. The wolves! What will happen with the wolves? You will just have to read the book to find out.
The illustrations, created by colored pencils, are beautiful with bright, but softened colors. The rhymes add to the overall effect. This book is a delightful winner with the small set, although older students are known to be seduced by the thrill of the story!

This series is full of easy rhymes. It makes a great early reader, as well as a great read-aloud for a younger preschooler or toddler.
The sheep dress up and head out for halloween. They're followed by some wolves - gasp! horror! But they manage to unknowingly turn the tables on them simply by being in scary costumes. Whew.
I suppose it might be scary for some younger children.

Good limited basic vocabulary text with charming illustrations. Bought for my granddaughter who is currently enamoured with sheep to hear now and read later.

This writing team of Shaw and Apple have given us another winner in every way. Let me start by stating that I very much do not agree with the assessment and opinion here from the School Library Journal. This journal, while usually so much more accurate than Publishing house's Weekly, sort of missed the mark with this one. Perhaps it is just a matter of preception, we all see things a bit differently. For myself, and the kids I read this one to, there is not much to not like about this book. Yes, the illustrations are a bit darker that is normal for this series, but the for goodness sakes, it Halloween, it's suppose to be dark! The rhyming text is as delightful here as in the other books of this series and the kids do all seem to love it and it certainly holds thier attention. There is so much junk out there in the way of Halloween books, it is a delight to find one so readable as this offering. This is a great one to add to your library. I dare say, you and your kids will love it.
