Editor's Notes and Comments:
Product Description:
This popular text discusses the major theories of international relations and provides students with the historical background to understand global politics. Juliet Kaarbo brings the text fully up-to-date with coverage of contemporary issues such as international conflict, economic alliances, and terrorism and global security. A five part organization—theory and history; states and foreign policy; security relations, economic relations; and global challenges—focuses on the most urgent topics in international relations and global politics.
- A theoretical chapter on global politics covers six major perspectives on international relations and clearly explains the premise and significance of each theory.
- Chapter 3, The Modern Era, includes coverage of the post–Cold War era, the Arab-Israeli conflict, super power involvement in the developing world, changes in the international economy, and north-south relations.
- Coverage of globalization focuses on the growing importance of the global economy, NGOs, and multinational corporations.

The book is really good, and I love it. Only problem - it's soft cover + covers the issues in mostly the general sense, and I want some more specifics on the issues...
I heartily recommend the book.

James Lee Ray (Florida State at the time of writing Global Politics, Vandberbilt currently) has written a solid general introduction to international relations. Along with covering traditional INR theories and frameworks, Ray also introduces some more contemporary theories, including an extended section on the democratic peace theory
