Amazon.com Review:
The Scholastic Children's Dictionary provides a brief history of each letter, precise definitions, and charming illustrations. Scattered throughout are colored boxes of synonyms, suffixes, and prefixes for featured words. Perusing this quality reference volume is a rich experience that's well beyond a simple list of definitions.

We got this for my daughter who is 7 and loves to read. She understands the simple language which is used throughout the dictionary. The sentences given as examples on how to construct ones of her own are also very helpful.

My eight year old has found it extremely entertaining and useful. The pictures and descriptions are well done and down to an eight year olds level.

My daughter absolutely LOVES this dictionary. She has looked in it almost everyday to learn different meanings. She loves also seeing the pictures in the book. It is definitely age appropriate!

I received the dictionaries in GREAT condition and at a great price. My students are learning dictionary skills in class and at their home. I purchased the dictionaries so each student would have their own dictionary at home.

I bought this for my 3rd grader after physically going to a bookstore and comparing the few available choices. This was the best in my opinion. My daughter needs to look up about twenty words each week for her class and she keeps thanking me for buying "great dictionary".
