Most people didn't like this book because it really wasn't about the oringinal charecters like Soren for instance. But in my opinion the book was far more interesting to read about because it starts "fresh" with a brand new charecter, a Barn Owl born from Tyrants with a good soul named Nyroc. And unlike Soren and the Band he is a recenly flegded owl that still breaks the rules and is still a kid. But this "kid" has to make alot of decisions that really affect your life as you are about to find out in the story if you decide to buy it but below I typed a breif sumary of the story's beginning started at the end of Book #6 in the Guardains of Ga'hoole series.
Well the basic sumrary is that one the night of a lunar eclispe after the War of the Burning was over an egg cracked and Nyroc son of Kludd and the now widow Nyra [Kludd was killed in the battle] was born. The thing speacial of the eclispe was that the owls born on the same minute particulary barn owls have a huge extremely white and big facial Disk like the moon and was born with a terribly bad soul like Nyra or a soul of a kind hero. Nyroc of coarse as he was named like all males born then was born with a good soul and later he learns some peices of some of the stories of the Great Ga'hoole Tree where there was no rules that only Tytos [barn owls] could do stuff or participate in things. Once Nyroc discovers who's right the Great Ga'hoole Tree Owls or his mother and the Owls of The Pure Ones, and when he chooses where his loyalty lies he finds that his own mother, Nyra will turn against him.
I think at least one book in the series should get a few awards because of their brilliant fast pace, unique topic and imagination, and because it has some humur in it making it perfect for kids who think Harry Potter is a bit long.

The evil Pure Ones lost everything in the Battle of The Burning when they were defeated by the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. So Nyra, the widow of the Pure Ones' slain leader Kludd, is delighted when she finds her new hatchling, Nyroc, to be more than she could have ever hoped for. Nyra is certain that her son will lead the Pure Ones on to glory and the hostile opression of all the owl kingdoms. And Nyroc is more than ready for the task.
But Nyroc begins to have his doubts when he sees in the flames of the Rogue smith Gwyndor horrible things about the Pure Ones' - and his mother's - past. A light grows in his heart, helped along by his friendship with the Sooty Owl Phillip. When Nyroc sets out with Phillip on a quest for truth, he discovers for sure that what he saw in Gwyndor's flames was true. And when the day comes when he must decide to accept his destiny or defy it, Nyroc knows what he must do - desert the Pure Ones forever. But because the rumour of evil still clings to him, he must prove himself before he can even approach his new destination - the Great Ga'Hoole Tree.
If you're reading this series, you can't miss Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Book 7: The Hatchling!

This was a great book and i was very glad i read it. this book was a real page-turner and i would realy reccomend it.The book was at its best when Nyroc
A.Statred his 'Quest'
B.Nyroc beggan seeing scrooms
And C. When Nyroc learned about his 'Special' Ceremony.
I was at the edge of my seat through the whole book! This book is for the people out there who just wish to 'fly away' from their busy life.(if you are busy that is!)this is also for fans of Soren and Gylfie.(and Digger and Twilight!)this was a great book!

My favourite character in this book is Nyroc, son of Kludd and Nyra, because he is not evil
and ruthless like his mother and dead father. I feel sorry for Nyroc because the other owlets
were jealous and hated him because of his flying skills. I also feel sorry for him because
other owl families were scared of him because everyone thinks he is evil.
This is my favourite book in the Ga'Hoole Series because its shows you the bad guys side of
the the story. It is better than the other books because it tells you why the Pure Ones hate
the owls of the Ga'Hoole Tree. My favorite part of the story is when Nyroc rejected the Pure
Ones because I didn't want him to be as evil as his parents.
Some of the adverbs in this book that I like are cryptically, disdainfully, sickeningly and
grimly because they help me understand how someone is feeling. I like some of the phrases in
the book, including "He lowered his mottled coloured head and spread his feathery wings,
tipping them slightly forward so that the upper surfaces faced the night-black crows." and
"His gizzard squirmed uncomfortably as he felt the mask of dark blue blood drying, tightening
on his normally white face." because they tell me how the owl looks like.
A fantastic and well-written novel. It deserves a 5 out of 5.

I just don't get how it went from the very first 6 books in Sorens point of veiw, and all of a sudden, he's only a background character for some new guy who's great at every thing except being evil. But it's still a pretty good book on how he tries(and succeeds) to ascape from his evil mom, Nyra, Metalbeak's widow.
