The Joshua series is my favorites of all the books I read. It is written so real and makes us think of how we would treat Jesus if he were here today. How would we have treated him 2000 years ago. Do we judge people by their cars and clothing or their hearts and actions.
You can really feel the presence of GOD when you read these stories. Each teaches us a lesson is we are open to the ideals.

I just finished the book "Joshua" by Joseph Girzone. As most books about godly subjects it was uplifting and made me feel really happy and inspired. On the other hand, the authors views of the differing attitudes the various religious denominations hold was, I felt, flawed and unresearched. In his endeavor to be fair to the different religions discussed, he was critical of them all in a very generalized manner. (Do we ever genuinely try to understand the beliefs of others....we would have to do much research and put our hearts into it) To be critical of all, in trying to be fair, is not fair.
Keeping this in mind, it was an entertaining book of fiction and I enjoyed the read.

Having read Joshua and enjoyed it, I snapped this up when I found it. Though the story was okay, I was disappointed in the book, overall. As others have stated, the writing was clumsy - a bit amateurish. The characterization of these inner-city residents was not believable. Still, wading through the less-than-stellar writing would have been worth it for the sake of a really good story. The bigger issue is that the theology presented in the book is atrociously unbiblical. The last thing we need is one more universalist, but that is just what we get in this story. Worse, we get a JESUS who is universalist. What a grievous misrepresentation of the King of kings and Lord of lords! Repeatedly, Joshua equates Yahweh and Allah, Islam and Christianity. Politically correct but Biblically INcorrect, this book is going in the garbage.

While the plot of "Joshua" books by this stage of the series is somewhat predictable, the concept can not fade. Taking on the problems of the inner city, Joshua takes a road that politicians often forget. The poor have pride and want an opportunity to work when it is provided. Society as a whole benefits when more people are working.
In "Joshua in the City", we see the main character in a city that seems to be a pretty obvious take on New York. Joshua begins his encounters in the poor grey sections of the city meeting two brothers. He teaches these brothers a trade that impacts the rest of the book almost as much as the other key relationship. When He united Charlene and Jana, He meets Joshua's husband Daniel. Daniel, who is a millionaire, funds the urban building project on which the book is centered.
Joshua predictably encounters ememies and makes many converts as the book continues. But when he gets to speak to Congress, does he make them converts?
Fans of the series are likely to enjoy this book. It is not the best book in the series, but it does leave an impression. I would more accurately give it 4 1/2 stars.

You don't have to be a Theologin to appreciate the series of Joshua. Faith has nothing to do with it. If we simply research the writings of Christ and verify the facts we'd see. Therefore, reading about a Christ like figure should not give people disdain feelings. If Christ was to come back yesterday amongst us as in the Bible we would see simialar events as in every Joshua seried writing. Therefore, we should not feel some state of nausea or that we've been cheated by a fairytale.. To me Joshua and the City along with the rest of Father J. Grizone's books are uplifting and beautiful in it's depictions of all things that are good in this world.
