Wow !! I really enjoyed this book JL has done it again and may I add better than Love Only Once
with this continuation of the Malory Family Saga.
In book two the Tender Rebel is Anthony Malory a confirmed bachelour and a notorious rake, who sets his desire for Roslynn a Scottish beauty who needs the safety of marriage to get away from an unscrupulous cousin who covets her wealth. The two meet and instantly sparks fly between the handsome Anthony and lovely Roslynn....
A few Reasons why I liked Tender Rebel better than Love Only Once is the Hero. Anthony Malory knew what he wanted and went after it, be it only Lust filled at very first but you knew that it was more than lust that was brewing in Anthony's heart.. As opposed to Love Only Once where the Hero Nicholas Eden did anything and everything to push what he wanted away... on the other hand I like Love Only Once because of the Heroine Reggie she stood firm in her actions as opposed to Roslynn who was wishy washy with her demands on the marriage. Which was ludicrous by the way but made for the drama that we all love and the misunderstandings that we love to hate .I also liked James Malory and how Tender Rebel set him up for his own electrifying love story ( which sadly I haven't had a chance to read yet)
In the end Tender Rebel is a gem and worth reading Anthony Malory was a sensual hero that endured his wife's wrath and gave her what she asked for even though he knew that her conditions were not her hearts desire. The erotic chair scene comes to mind *wink*
Read the book you won't be disappointed you will sigh a breathe of pleasure when you read the last page and put in on the shelf of keepers

CAUTION SPOILERS:
I didn't like Roslynn holding a grudge for so long. Also, I didn't like Anthony not defending himself. He could have provided witnesses to Roslynn about the barmaid coming to him and his refusal of the barmaid. Roslynn and Anthony should have talked openly instead of fighting for several weeks. I did like the way Anthony beat up and lied to Geordi to get him to leave Roslynn alone.
Sexual content: not evaluated. I read this book before I began counting sex scenes and describing the language. As I recall, it was probably mild. Setting: 1818 England. Copyright: 1988. Genre: regency romance.

I've read this book twice and Anthony Malory is still one af my favorite leading men of all time - I read about a book a day - mostly historicals - so that says a lot about his character in my eyes. He is one to fall in love with, along with the entire Malory family. I enthusiastically recommend all the books in this series and just about all Johanna Lindsey books. They are fast, well-written reads and always leave me satisfied.

Okay... This story lacke a bit for me. First, Roslynn was really self centered and was hard to like, and have empathy for. Anthony was pretty predictable, and was an okay hero. I found myself not being able to fully picture scenes. While the story was okay, it lacked in the telling of the story. After 2 Malory novels, on to a different author. Maybe I'll come back to this family, but I need to read some better stories first.

I'm 3/4 through this book and I'm in love with Anthony Malory. His character is so defined. He's sexy, charming, seductive, witty, sensitive, macho, heroic, and unconditionally loves his woman. I cant wait to read this book again!
